Here's a computer simulated clip of how the baby is born. Pay particular attention to the smaller screen on the top right corner and see how the tailbone bends when the baby's head comes out. This is why lying flat on the back is the worst position to be in when birthing. It does not allow the tailbone to bend and makes it more difficult for the baby to come out.
