Things have been rather crazy lately. On top of the usual daily rush, which is crazy enough as it is; on top of the mid-year exam happening about now; we decided to remodel our home during the holidays. This means countless things to do right now. Meeting contractors, shopping for fixtures, packing up the house in preparation for a move-out,

This is another question I often get : How do I “do it all”? The people who ask me this question are also asking another question : “How can I do it all (like you)?” I most certainly do not ‘do it all’. But what I do is besides the point. My answer to this question is another question

I am, at heart, a paper and pen person. My husband has always been trying to convert me to become a techie like him, but I have always resisted. To me, the simpler the technology or method, the better it is. Some things may come with all kinds of bells and whistles, supposedly to make our lives easier, but it

I don’t think I am the only SAHM who experience this all the time : People tend to think that just because I don’t work outside home, I must have a lot of time and flexibility to take on extra errands or commitments. I also often find it difficult to just say,”I am not free” and turn down requests because

I have been sick for the past week and had to scale down on a lot of things because I was too sick to do much. For SAHM like me, when we are sick, we seldom have the chance to just sleep throughout the day and rest. Laundry still has to be done or else the kids would have no

We just celebrated Chinese New Year last week and as usual, we visited the same people on the same days, did the same things, had the same goodies. When things get done the same way many times, it becomes a tradition. I realise that mothers tend to be the ones who establish the tradition in the family. In my own

I declutter several times a year. It is a necessary exercise because having too many things at home makes housekeeping difficult. The logic is simple : if you have less things, you have less things to clean. If you have less things around the house, you have less things to move around when you clean. Decluttering, to me, is

A few years ago, I wrote about how I coped alone with two kids. Now that I have three, I think I should write about how I am coping with three. In actual fact, coping with three is much easier than coping with two. First of all, we hired a full time maid when we had our third kid. We

The most common questions I get as a stay -at-home-mom (SAHM) are 1. Will you ever go back to work? 2. When do you intend to return to the workforce? My answer is “I don’t know.” I really don’t know. I suppose at the back of my mind, the idea is along the line of going back to work

The thing about being a SAHM is that you rely on the sole breadwinner of the familiy for everything. Actually, you think you are dependent. I am not the only one having this idea. A lot of people think this way, which is why so many “independent” women disdain being a SAHM. The typical reason against quitting their jobs and

This is how I made my one-month meal plan. 1. Determine the days we have meals at home. Obviously, on days that we usually eat out or have meals at our parents’ place, we don’t need to plan for anything. The weekend free days also offer the flexibility for me to cook new things that are not in the plan.
