Chokos Soup

This is a breastmilk boosting recipe. It is another generous contribution from my friend, Lily Tan. I have tried it and it seemed to work for me.


1 Choko (also known as Sayote, Chayote or Buddha’s Hand Gourd), chopped into chunks

1 Carrot, chopped into chunks

1 Onion, chopped into chunks

2 Tomatos, chopped into chunks

1 piece of Ginger, sliced

1 Chicken, chopped



1. Parboil the chicken in boiling water.

2. Put all the ingredients, including the chicken, into a pot of water, enough to cover all the ingredients.

3. Bring to a boil and simmer for at least 1 hour. If you are using a slow cooker, cook for at least 4 hours.

4. Season with salt to taste.
